AI Document Review Without Compromising Privilege

By the VFACE team · 28 Aug 2026 · 6 min read

Law firms can use AI for review and drafting if confidentiality is designed in. A practical architecture.

Why public tools are off the table

Client material is privileged. Sending it to a public chatbot risks waiver and breaches of engagement terms. Private deployment inside the firm's own tenancy removes the question.

Keep the lawyer in control

Every suggestion should cite the page and paragraph it came from, with a confidence score. Low-confidence items go to a reviewer queue, and corrections feed back into evaluation.

Measure before you trust

Build a gold-standard set from your own matters and report precision and recall on key clause types. Re-run it after every model change.
